How our wooden spurtles are made

Our wooden spurtles are handmade at our woodshop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Each spurtle is carved and hand sanded to a smooth finish. Prioritizing local resources, we use hardwoods sourced from the Eastern United States. This allows us to be both friendly to the environment and supportive of local industry. 

Using your Lancaster wooden spurtle

Handmade in Lancaster, PA, our wooden spurtles are an original take on the traditionally designed Scottish porridge spurtle. Designed in the Highlands of Scotland in the 15th century, this unique kitchen tool was originally used to stir oatmeal, soup, stew, and broth. Our wood spurtle is useful for even more applications including stirring, mixing, whisking, and icing. Lancaster spurtles are meant to be used in most applications where you would use a spoon or a spatula. They are easy to clean and are the perfect size - 12” long.
